Seattle Great Wheel

The Seattle waterfront is under some serious construction right now, but the pier is still open with the Great Wheel stationed right at the point.  Since it's tourist season, and I was a resident tourist for the week (or, all the time, really), of course we stopped.

There it is!  Fun fact: it is the largest wheel on the west coast.

It does offer some pretty great views of the sunny city.  It's also a welcome break from all the walking we were doing that day.

To really experience Seattle's wonderful hills, you really do have to walk the waterfront and then do the lovely HIKE back up to 1st Street and the Market.  It's a great way to demonstrate how out of shape you are.

We hiked our way straight to the bar, specifically Radiator Whiskey, located on the 2nd or 3rd floor (I don't remember, it was just more stairs) in the Market.  Whiskey from the barrel, right??  There, I had some kind of watermelon margarita that was super tasty and very strong.  It might have been made with bourbon.  I don't even know.  We also gorged ourselves on happy hour pulled pork even though we were still STUFFED from our food tour and lunch out.  If you don't eat your way through this city, you're doing it wrong.

Afterwards, we took a brief stop to admire some street art.  She was my favorite.  Of course, you must abide by the rule that if the street art makes you stop, you should probably hand over some of your money.  {I believe this same rule applies as my mom once told me when I watched a telethon, "If it makes you cry, you probably should give them some of your money."}

This lady was really awesome, though.  I could have watched her much longer, and lots of people didn't realize she was real.

We ended our full day downtown with dinner (more food!) and drinks in south Queen Anne before finally calling it a night.  This tour de downtown was exhausting.  Also, tons of fun.
