We spent our evening in Providence attending the WaterFire festivities down on the river front. It seemed to be the must-do activity for a Friday evening. Since we spent the day downtown, we had the opportunity to see all the set up for the event. They had food, music, and of course the water and fire. It drew a huge crowd as the night went on and the fire lighting started right at dusk.
There were people dressed as pirates (?) with incense prior to the beginning of the fire "ceremony".
Each fire was lit individually by people on boats, so the process was slow but entertaining.
TONS of people showed up, and it was the event to bring your date. Or your family, in our case.
Once we had our fill, we escaped to the hotel to catch some zzz's before our next big Rhode Island Adventure.
