I tried a new trail a little northeast of Seattle and hiked around Lake Twenty-Two. It was a cloudy and misty weekend morning, but that just means a few less people on the trail (meaning you might find a parking space!) and you won't be quite as sweaty.
This trail was pretty interesting and not like any other hike I have done yet. There were many opportunities to admire beautiful waterfalls.
It had a lot of wooden/dirt type stairs that had long lengths in between, so I tried to kind of skip-jump them and it made my body hurt the next day. At one point the trail was just rock, as I am proudly modeling below.
Yes. That is THE TRAIL on the right. That pile of rocks. This was one of the times I was very grateful for hiking shoes. Another time was when we walked straight through a stream and also when we walked through mud.
But there were also really fantastic views, and it just doesn't get any cooler than that. I haven't even made it to the lake, yet! I think my stance says "are we there yet?" or maybe "whose idea was this?".
However, once we got to the lake (if a hike doesn't have a gorgeous reward at the end, I'd rather not do it), it was truly stunning and totally worth it...
Is that even real?? Once again, pictures just don't do it justice! I felt SO SMALL! The mountain doesn't even fit in the picture. The water was crystal clear and perfectly reflected the cloudy day.
Earth is so cool. Just another time I have to remind myself that I live HERE. Life is good.
